Monsters by Emerald Fennell
3.5 stars
This was our book club read for April, and my god, it was so weird. If you don't recognise the author, you might know her as the director of Saltburn (if you've seen it, you'll know what I mean when I say it was weird but wonderful). This book is no different with its purposely indelicate creation of two rather strange young characters and their obsession with serial killers and murder. This book will have you wincing in certain places and may make you wary of children and their seemingly innocent ways.

The Second Chance Convenience Store by Kim Ho-Yeon
Translated by Janet Hong
5 stars
I was kindly gifted this book by Macmillan as an ARC (advanced reader copy) and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Reading this novel was like a warm hug and inspired hope for humanity. An easy 5-star read for me simply because of how wholesome the story is.
The Second Chance Convenience Store is out on the 19th June 2025 and is available for pre-order now. I cannot recommend it enough.
