Last month was actually a very quiet reading month for me. Usually I'll get through 8 or so books a month but January was a struggle with my health and so I only managed three books (one of which was an audiobook I started in December). I've been feeling very burnout after all the socialising of Christmas and my chronic illness has been flaring up because of it so concentration has been almost non-existent. However, the three books I have read were good ones!

Butter by Asako Yuzuki
3 stars
This was a Christmas present from my husband but it was on my TBR list for a while so I was excited to get stuck in. I honestly had no idea what to expect from this book but had seen a lot of people talk about it online. Be prepared to be very hungry reading this book - Yuzuki is excellent at writing vivid and mouth-watering descriptions of the food within the book.

Careering by Daisy Buchanan
4 stars
This was our book club's pick for January but it had also been on my physical TBR shelf for years, so I'm glad I finally go round to reading it! A very relatable, funny and honest read and I really like Buchanan's writing style. The protagonist has an excellent internal monologue and the book touches on many important topics such as sexism and racism within the work place and friendship during failure and success.

Girl, Alone by Blake Pierce
3 stars
This is the second book in the series (it's a very long series - currently 30 books) and it was a good, easy listen. I would say book number 1 was better but for anyone that likes FBI suspense books about serial killers then this is probably right up your street.
What did you read in January?
Talk bookish to you soon,
