Welcome to our first post on The Book Nook Blog: the place where we talk bookish and keep you in the loop on any and all store updates.

The Book Nook is an independent second-hand bookshop located in the Somerset town of Bridgwater. Although we aren't open for business just yet, our goal is to create a cosy haven filled with trinkets and treasures that will make every book lover's heart swell with joy. We want to help you build your very own Book Nook at home which is there will also be up-cycled furniture, candles, book-themed prints and more for you to purchase in store alongside our hand picked collection of pre-loved books.

A little about me...

Hi! I'm Georgia Holliday, founder, owner, and bookseller at The Book Nook. It has been my dream to open a second-hand bookshop forever - ‘the feminine urge to quit your job, move to a small town and open a bookshop kind of vibe - and at 29 years old, that's exactly what I'm doing.

I loved reading and writing and stories and words as soon as my human body allowed me to learn those skills and absorb the magic; I say absorb because I truly feel I become intertwined with the books I read, almost like I myself am an amalgamation of every poem, prose and page I’ve ever read.

Books have always been my friend. They’ve been my escape from reality, my coping mechanism when my demons get too loud and a companion holding my hand as I navigate life as a chronically ill neurodivergent person.

And now I get to share that magic with other fellow bibliophiles.
